Dr. Che Alex Ma awarded the Ho Chin-Tui Award (Basic Science-Biology)

The Ho Chin-Tui Award was established in 1991 to acknowledge individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in basic science and technology education, research, and advocacy. Its objective is to contribute to Taiwan's academic advancement and stimulate increased investment in scientific research.

Dr. Che Alex Ma’s primary focus lies in the structural biology of emerging infectious diseases, vaccine design, and the development of novel antibiotics. Notably, his recent major achievements include: 1. Identifying the broad protective effects of the low-sugar spike protein vaccine against new coronavirus variants; 2. Discovering the ability of lectin in Lablab extract to neutralize various strains of influenza and coronaviruses; 3. Analyzing the peptidoglycan synthesis mechanism in bacterial cell walls, offering innovative insights for designing antibiotics targeting the bacterial cell divisome.
